Celebrations or Riots?

As Superbowl XLVIII came to a close, I, along with the rest of Seattle, could barely contain the excitement I had for our beloved Seahawks and their 43 – 8 rout of the Denver Broncos. It only felt natural to yell “GO HAWKS” at every person I saw driving home, but when I got to the heart of the University District, something distracted me from my belligerently jubilant cheering out the car window: riot police were gathering just up the block from Frat Row. Upwards of 10 cop cars were parked in and along the street along with a few firefighters. Curious, with adrenaline pumping hard through my veins, I parked my car and walked over towards the noise. This is what I experienced:
