When not in school, the students explored Cape Town, visiting Cape Point, Table Mountain, and learning how to play drums at a cultural center.

The HFB students met other high schoolers from Isilimela Comprehensive School and Bellville High School. They grew close with these students throughout the week and on the weekend beach retreat.
The students visited Robben Island, the jail in which Nelson Mandela was held for 18 years, and received a tour from a former political prisoner.
