Luke Smith decided to build a desk from scratch for his senior project. It took 50 to 60 hours to create the finished product, and Luke admitted that, “It was really easy to mess up.” Smith learned the difficulties of wood-working firsthand when he made a measurement error during the assembly of his desk. He had to improvise with glue in order to overcome the mistake, but in the end it was worth it. Smith spoke proudly of his desk, saying that his project was a “Really good learning experience,” and that it was “a fun and cheaper alternative to buying a pre-made desk.” As frustrating and time consuming as it may have been, Smith says that he will “definitely do it again.”
