Roosevelt High School students reap the benefits of the businesses surrounding the school when going off campus for lunch and after school. Burgers and bubble tea have become popular options for students because of businesses such as Tea Addicts and Rain City Burgers that are less than a five minute walk from Roosevelt.

The Roosevelt News (TRN) asked the owner of Tea Addicts, Jace Wang, for his perspective. When asked why he decided on the location of his business, Wang said, “I chose to have our store in the Roosevelt area because I see the growing potential of Roosevelt. This is also an area with a lot of families and diversity and inclusion. As a first-generation, Chinese immigrant, bubble tea is a culture that I want to introduce to people’s everyday life.”
Wang continued, “We started in Seattle in 2018. Tea Addicts’ goal is to create a comfortable and friendly environment for our customers to hang out and study.”

Another business near Roosevelt is Rain City Burgers, owned by Dil Maharjan. When asked how high schoolers impact their business Maharjan said, “High schoolers have been a great part of Rain City Burgers. We have been here for 13 years, we have seen them grow as we did and we feel absolute joy when they come back even after their graduation. They have shared their recommendations and experiences with their friends and family which has helped us bring more customers in. They have been an important part of our business and our community.”
