The messages displayed on the sign outside the Village Market on 25th Ave. NE and NE Blakeley St., are the topic of much conversation in and around University District. Though some of the messages are inspirational and heart-warming, most of them tend to be satirical.
The gas station is located in a very urban environment, with close access to University Village, the University of Washington, and the Burke-Gilman Trail.
The sign is changed around once every two and a half weeks, with the front side usually being an inspirational message and the back being satirical. Written to make people laugh, the sign can brighten the day of any driver, biker, or pedestrian happening to cross or pass by the intersection. It is a great example of how something so small can make a difference in anyone’s everyday life.
