The Roosevelt womens’ golf team is excitedly preparing for their upcoming season as spring sports begin. After the unparalleled number of victories last season, captain Claire Huebler, who loves to use her nine-iron, has big plans to continue her team’s success.
“This year we’re really going to focus on our skill and improve our game especially since we have a lot of new freshman who haven’t played golf a lot.” The 2013 season yielded the greatest number of wins compared to the number of matches won in the previous five years. The team won four of their matches last season and was excited to participate in every practice and match.
“Everyone really put their best effort into practices and games,” said Huebler. Despite their numerous achievements, weather conditions posed as a set back for the team and forced some matches to end prematurely. In addition, there were some flaws in the team’s communication, which is something Huebler hopes to improve. “My co-captain and I are going to work really hard to make sure that everyone feels like they are being heard this year. We also would like to do more team bonding activities.”
